Sunday started bright and sunny at last and a visit was made to Washford. The platform mounted signalbox makes a colourful sight.

At Dunster the Terrier was bathed in some pleasant morning sunshine while it was prepared for its shunting demonstration

Mongrel 2-6-0 no. 9351 coasts down castle Hill with the 11.45am from Bishops Lydeard

Soon after we see the double-headed 12.30pm coast down castle Hill with Stanier mogul 2-6-0 42968 and 53808

This location was excellent but right next to a main road.

Finally the pairing i really wanted to see. 3440 City of Truro supported by 0-6-2T 6619 climb Castle Hill with the 12.30 from Minehead

After driving back to Dunster i was able to catch a further photo of 42968 and 53808 heading towards Minehead with the 12.30 ex Bishops Lydeard

... and it is seen going away across the River Avill bridge

Two x GWR 2884 Class 2-8-0's provide super power for the 14.25pm from Bishops Lydeard

After completion of the shunting demo Terrier 0-6-0 no. 662 Martello propels the stock towards Minehead

Blue Anchor station and traditional gated crossing - A very rare find.

Inside the box the bobby told me that the gate wheel was dated from 1905. Repairs are needed on the gate though after damage from a vehicle. I bet the car came off the worst though.

Our train arrives (tender first Aghhh) hauled by 53808 for our final run to Bishops Lydeard

At Bishops Lydeard the VV shuttle has arrived into platform 1 and stands alongside D7523 John F Kennedy. (Named after whom i wonder?

Our return to Blue Anchor was to be on board the Autotrain that had eluded me all day. The driver is about to accept the single line token from the bobby. I met up with the stars of The yeovil Betrothal here... Yes Nick and Shirley... greetings both.

These coaches have been lovingly restored and are a credit to their respective owners.

The driver on the footplate of 1450. The fireman i recognised as one of the support crew from 6024's King Circular railtour in March. he also allowed me access to the footplate of 9351 in July 2006 during my first visit to the WSR. Check out the images from 14th July 2006.

On arrival at Williton the light was fading away so out came my flashgun.

In the bay at Williton was the Fowler 0-6-0 4F no. 44422. The yellow striped locomotive had eluded me all through this gala. I recall most of the locos I 'spotted' in the 60's having the yellow stripe applied to indicate that they were banned from going under the wires south of Crewe.
